In
August 1999, Barun Kumar Pal, Steve Gorn, and Samir Chatterjee
were the featured performers at the Centennial Celebration at
Ridgely, the Vivekananda Retreat Centre in Stone Ridge, New
York, where 100 years ago, Swami Vivekananda was a frequent
guest. Their performance of Rag Maru Behag and Rag Kirwani was
the musical highlight of a day of celebration. On Barunji's
next visit to America, the ensemble was able to record a memorable
performance of these ragas, inspired by the performance at Ridgely.
